Why you should buy a house in Hua Hin

Hua hin History

The royal city of Hua Hin is located approx. 200 km south of Bangkok and 90 km north of the provincial capital Prachuapkhirikhan on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Hua Hin has a population of around 68.000 people including the King and Queen who resides here most of the year.

Hua Hin is the oldest and most traditional beach resort in Thailand. Hua Hin was discovered back in the early 1920s by King Rama VII as a perfect spot to get away from the capital of Bangkok. The small fishing village was soon turned into a royal resort and has today become one of the most popular beach destinations in Thailand. One of the first railway lines in Thailand was constructed from Bangkok to Hua Hin, and The Railway Hotel, now owned by the Sofitel chain, was built by the State Railways of Thailand in 1923 in the architectural style of old Siam.

Today it still is one of the best hotels in town. In 1928, King Rama VII built the Palace "Klai Klangwon" (Far From Worries) which until today remains an official royal residence, and the palace where the King and Queen resides most of the year.

Hua Hin has one of the lowest rainfall rates in Thailand and being a coastal town it has a lovely sea breeze. Therefore Hua Hin can be visited all year. There are 3 seasons, the dry season (November-February), the warm season (March-June), and the rainy season (July-October). Hua Hin has the lowest rainfall of any beach resort in Thailand, and was chosen as a royal resort because of its excellent weather and relatively close location to Bangkok.
